Starwood Vacation Ownership
When you buy Starwood timeshare, your initial purchase will be at a specific home resort. However, with Starwood Vacation Ownership you have the option to visit your home resort or travel to 18 other resorts within the network. Reserving your Week
Within the network, members can own fixed or floating timeshare weeks. With a fixed week your week is automatically booked. All you need to do is call and confirm that you will use the week 10 to 12 months before check-in. For a floating week you can reserve it 12 months before check-in.
When visiting all other Starwood resorts, you’ll use the StarOptions program. With this program, you may choose to travel to any of Starwood’s timeshare resorts. When booking a vacation of one week or more, you must call Starwood at least 8 months before your desired travel date. If you are reserving less than 7 days, you can book it in as little as 3 months before your desired check-in date.
Banking your Week
If you are unable to use your vacation time, Starwood also gives the option to bank your week or points. You can bank an entire week or just a few days to use at a later date. If you have an every-other-year (biennial) ownership you can bank a portion of your timeshare points so that you may travel every year.
Banked points can be used up to two years after your original check-in. Simply reserve your desired travel dates by December 31st of the second year. Your points will automatically be banked if you do not use them completely after your given use year.
Starwood Starpoints
As a Starwood Vacation owner, you also have the option to convert your timeshare week to Starpoints. Different from StarOptions (which allows you to travel to any villa resort within the vacation ownership network) the Starpoints allow you to travel through the Starwood Preferred Guest program. This increases your travel options by over 1,100 Starwood hotels in over 100 countries. Travel to some of the world’s most elite resorts including: W Hotels, Sheraton resorts, Le Meridien, Aloft, Four Points Sheraton, and more. These points can also be applied towards airline credits.
